Review UtechSmart USB 3.0 4 Port Hub

Review UtechSmart USB 3.0 4 Port Hub

The UtechSmart USB 3.0 4 port hub is a great little device that solves the not-enough-USB-ports problem we frequently run into.

My MacBook Pro has but 2 built-in USB ports. At times that limitation is very frustrating. Many PC's may have 3 or even 4 USB ports but in most cases only 1 or 2 of those ports are USB 3.0.
This compact sized 4 port hub provides a solution to those times where you need more USB ports. What you must keep in mind though is this is a bus-powered hub. It has no external power which is good in most cases but a limitation is other cases. It is good that you do not need to worry about carrying around an additional AC power adapter for the hub. It is a limitation if you have power-hungry peripherals plugged into the hub since you many run out of available power for them all. This you learn through trial and error.

The hub has a short, roughly 4" USB cord that is permanently attached. Great that you don't have to worry about finding the cord when you need to use it. It's small enough to easily be taken with you. The plastic case is adequate.

Works as designed and I think it's a great choice if you need a USB3.0 hub. It is backwards compatible to USB 2.0 and 1.1.

I was provided a complimentary sample for testing and review. I agreed to provide a fair and honest review with no expectation that my review would be positive. If you have any questions please leave me a comment and I'll do my best to reply.
