Review Tylt TUNZBK-T Rechargeable Bluetooth Speaker with NFC

Review Tylt TUNZBK-T Rechargeable Bluetooth Speaker with NFC

The Tylt Tunz is a slickly packaged bluetooth speaker that delivers a rich and full sound. It does have a few annoyances but overall it's a very pleasing speaker with great battery life and good appearance.

The Tunz resembles another well-marketed bluetooth speaker but has it's own merits as well. There is a silicone rubber bumper that surrounds the speaker. It ships with the red band around it and has two other bands; blue and black. These are decorative and functional as they protect the speaker from bumps and drops and also give some protection to the metal grill if the speaker were to be dropped or placed face down.

The front of the speaker has a nice sculpted metal grill. The back of the speaker has a good set of inputs and outputs. Aux In, Aux Out (allows you to daisy chain another speaker), USB output for charging another device (5V, 1A), MicroUSB input for charging the speaker and an on/off switch.
On the top is a touch interface. The buttons are black on black so are hard to see and pretty much impossible to see in the dark. They do have symbols on them that you can feel though. They provide no tactile feedback and rely simply on a surprisingly light touch to make them work. You've got a volume + and -, a multifunction button that initiates bluetooth pairing and also plays and pauses music.

The Handsfree button lets you take a phone call using the speaker as a hands free. It actually works pretty well but the built-in microphone does not provide the best sound quality for people calling you. You are able to initiate a phone call, answer or end a call, reject a call, redial the last number and transfer between the speaker and phone all using taps or touches of the handsfree button.

One thoughtful feature is the battery check. You can press the multi-function button in conjunction with the handsfree button for 2 seconds and the voice prompt will alert you to the battery level (Full, Medium or Low.) The battery has a very large capacity of 2800mAh. It takes 6-7 hours to charge the battery but it will play for up to 20 hours which is fantastic. You can even charge another device using the Tunz's internal battery and the USB output on the back of the speaker. You must have at least 50% full battery though or that function will be disabled until the battery is charged at least to the 75% level.

This is a pretty cool speaker with some great features and beautiful sound. I don't care for the black on black touch interface but the buttons do work well once you get the feel for them.

Review from Mr Erb.Thanks for watching.
