For the last 6 months or so, I've used a Flex Belt The Flex Belt Flex System Abdominal Toning Belt, Black to help tone my abdominal muscles. I only mention that because the underlying technology for the Flex Belt is the same as this Tens Handheld Electronic Pulse Massager. "TENS" is an acronym for, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. It sounds pretty scary but in fact it's not that scary if you understand what it's doing.
The way it works is as follows. You place sticky pads on the area of your body that you want to treat with the TENS unit. The pads have connections to which you attach the wires that go to the TENS unit. The unit then sends carefully controlled electric pulses to the pads which in turn stimulate the underlying nerves. The nerve stimulation then causes the muscles to contract as each electic pulse is delivered.
Don't think of this as getting shocked, think of it more as getting "tingled" slightly. The sensation is augmented or diminshed by the settings of the TENS unit.
My biggest concern with this device is that the documentation describing its operation was lacking. It does not go into very much detail as to the where the exact placement of the pads should be. It doesn't even guide you to how to know if you have placed the pads in the right place or not.
Had the documentation been more complete and informative, I would have given this my highest rating. As it is, the unit works as it is presented but the lack of proper documentation diminshes its effectiveness.
I was provided a sample for my fair and honest review.
Review from Mr Erb.Thanks for watching.
