Review Voltsaf - Portable High Capacity Dual-Port External Battery Pack Power Bank Backup Charger for iPhone 5S

Review Voltsaf - Portable High Capacity Dual-Port External Battery Pack Power Bank Backup Charger for iPhone 5S

The Voltsaf dual-port battery pack is large but not so large as to be unmanageable. It's capacity is 12,000mAh which is enough to give a typical smart phone at least 6 full charges and possibly a few more than that depending on the battery capacity of your smartphone. To keep tabs on the amount of charge the battery pack has there are a row of 4 LED's that will light up according to the state of charge of the Li-ion batteies in the power bank: 4-LED's mean 75%-100% charge. 3-LED"s indicate a 50-75% charge level. Only 2-LED"s mean you've got 25-50% charge and if only 1-LED Is lit, you've got less than 25% charge remaining and it's time to recharge the battery pack.

This is a dual-port battery pack with a total output of 3.1A. The case seems durable and well made. It's an attractive matte white finish. For the output ports, you've got a 1A as well as a 2.1A port. Generally speaking, smartphones will charge on the 1A port whereas higher capacity devices such as iPad's will be charged on the 2.1A port. The characteristics of the device dictate whether or not it will benefit from being charged on the 2.1A port. If the device can't avail itself to the higher current, then it will only sip as much current as it can handle. In other words, a device designed to be charged with 1A will not charge any faster if connected to a 2.1A output.

The Voltsaf is charged by a MicroUSB cable which is included. Also included is a compact sized AC adapter. Because it's a 100/240V, 50/60Hz adapter, it can be used Internationally. What's really nice about the adapter other than it's tiny size, is the fact that the AC plug is of a foldaway design so it can safely be carried in a pocket, suitcase, purse, without fear that the plug will catch on something.
The battery pack had great performance. It charged my iPhone4 at the rate of 1%/minute and that's pretty much as fast a charge rate as possible.

The final nice touch here is that the battery pack also features a built-in LED flashlight which is invoked by a quick double-press of the power button.

Quibbles? Yes just one. The markings above the USB ports that indicate 1A and 2.1A are very difficult to see. The case is white and the raised markings are also white so it's not easy to tell which port is which. But this is a minor issue and one that will be a non-issue once you've used the battery pack for a few days.

I was provided a sample for review.
